I enjoy teaching students to understand and use different types of words in their writing and everyday language use. Each year, as I introduce several different types of words, I post them on the cabinets above the back sink. When students find these types of words, they bring them to my attention (or to that of a classmate)! We add those words to the wall.
One of my new favorites in the last couple years is to use Katy Perry's Hot and Cold to teach antonyms. The kids absolutely LOVE it. We sing the chorus in class I bet they will NEVER forget what antonyms are.
